OPEN MINDS
November 2024
Dear Readers,
As winter's gentle breath caresses the land, bringing with it the soft twilight of
shorter days, we are reminded of nature’s subtle call for rest and renewal. The
seasons, with their endless cycles, whisper their wisdom: summer, with its ery
spirit, urges us towards tireless labour, while winter, with its serene presence,
beckons us to pause, reect, and replenish our weary souls.
In this season of stillness, we embark upon the grand journey of our Annual
Sports Meet, a celebration of vigour, unity, and the indomitable spirit of youth.
With the theme "Eduletics with Open Minds: Sprint to Success," this month-
long event stands as a testament to the triumph of collaboration, perseverance,
and collective joy. Through every race and game, we nd the echoes of a deeper
truth: in the pursuit of success, it is not the individual, but the spirit of unity that
prevails. In the cheers of the crowd, the camaraderie of teams, and the
unshakable bond of our school, we discover the true meaning of rejuvenation,
both for the body and the soul.
This month has been a symphony of triumphs and challenges, where the
rhythms of hard work and festive cheer have danced in harmony. As our
students,
with their hearts full of enthusiasm, balance academic pursuits with
the joy of festivals, they never lose sight of the noble goal that lies ahead: steady
progress, building a future of endless possibilities. It is this spirit of
determination, woven with joy, that will guide them through the Post-Mid
Term Examination and beyond.
In the days following our festive break, we celebrated the soul of our land—the
sacred Chhath Puja, honouring the deep connection between nature and
humanity. And, in the same breath, we paid homage to Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru,
our beloved rst Prime Minister, on his birth anniversary. The celebration of
Children’s Day was a moment to indulge in sweetness—cakes shared, smiles
exchanged—reminding us that the future belongs to those who dream, those
who hope, and those who dare.
As we gathered to observe Constitution Day, the essence of our nation’s
strength was felt in the collective voice that rose, reciting the Preamble. In that
moment, we were united, not only by the strength of our Constitution but also
by the vibrant, colourful tapestry of our nation, woven together by the threads
of unity in diversity.
And so, with hearts full of gratitude and anticipation, we look forward to the
next chapter in our journey. Our eyes are set upon the forthcoming edition,
where we shall relive the exhilarating moments of our Annual Sports Meet, a
celebration of youth, unity, and the boundless promise of the future.
Warm regards,
A. Awasthi

Dear Readers,
Back from the long holidays after
celebrating the rejuvenating festivals,
we are about to bring out the November
issue of the newsletter. Sparsely dotted with a
few activities like 'Children's Day', 'Practice Tests',
'POMT Exams' and then the vigorous practice sessions
for the forthcoming Annual Sports Meet, this month has
been the hub of actions. Minor events like regular
'Assemblies' and scheduled 'Mass PT's' also demanded
their due time and attention. Life comes to a full circle for
the month when all the stipulated objectives are
successfully achieved.
With the passage of time, we, student editors, have got
into the magazine issues up to neck, and gradually, have
started understanding the nitty-gritties of the job. From
writing things to editing them to be worth publishing, it
requires meticulous planning, preparation and execution.
By and by we'll get wiser we hope.
Winter is here with its soothing mornings and crisp
evenings. It's time to buckle down to work and make our
life better in every respect. Just be up and doing, give
hundred per cent to life and it will take of you and itself
too.
Keep reading, keep enjoying…
Yours truly,
Student Editors

“The soul is healed by being with children.” – Fyodor Dostoevsky
Children themselves are cause
for celebration as their being
spreads happiness wherever
they are. Everybody loves a
child, but there have been a few
public gures whose love for
kids surpass the boundaries.
Chacha Nehru was one of them.
The rst Prime Minister of
Independent India, Nehru loved
to be with children. Perhaps, it
was his own simplicity and
innocence that drew him to kids.
Children also reciprocated this
feeling of his as they loved
their Chacha more than
anybody else. That's why Pt. Jawaharlal
Nehru's birthday is celebrated as
Children's Day. All institutions
incorporating children celebrate
that day with required pomp and
show.
At OMK, where most of the
opportunities are pleasantly

Assembling for a Cause
“Today marks the beginning of the rest of your life.” – Unknown
Assemblies at schools serve many important purposes. They educate, they entertain, they
encourage
to express one's thoughts and ideas. They provide a unique opportunity for both the
mentors and the students to collaborate for a common cause. The students use this opportunity to
learn oratory, presentation skills and leadership skills from their teachers.
Speaking before a crowd gives the students a sense of achievement and condence to face every
situation. It puts an end to the stage fright and propels the students on the path to progress with
greater thrust and accuracy. It is learning beyond books. The lessons learnt are more practical than
theoretical.
At OMK, assemblies are everyday affairs. And the brightest thing is even the teachers organize
assemblies for themselves as we believe what we don't do we can't teach to others. A view…

Let's Train Together
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Physical Activities are a must for students' health and wellbeing. They form an integral part of
school
curriculum as a sound mind lives only in a sound body. Especially the mornings demand
them to prepare the students for the academic rigors of the day. Therefore, at OMK, Mass PT's are
regular affairs. After the prayers have been nished, the students on the scheduled days assemble
on the ground to participate in various stretching and rapid action exercises under the strict vigil of
sports coaches.
These activities become important as they shake the children out of the inertia of inaction. In a few
minutes of rigor, the air is lled with electrifying energy. Steps become brisk and actions fairly
quick. These exercises are both fun and pleasant to watch. Let's have a look at the images taken…

Examinations dominate this month. It
is an exercise for the students to check
if they are on the right path. The
school is lled with an air of
seriousness and students work day
and
night to prove themselves on the
touchstone of tests.
The third week of this month brought

drenched everyone in its fever.
Schedules saw remarkable changes adjusting to the
nitty-gritties of the exams. During the writing
periods, an unknown calmness blanketed the
campus which was punctured only with the
instructional voices of the invigilators.
The teachers were busy evaluating the answer
booklets, assessing how much the students have
assimilated the things they taught them. And the
coordination among the members of the OMK
family was outstanding as both the learners and
the mentors understood their role exceedingly
well. Have a look…

Annual Sports Meet [Practice Sessions]
A child's life is lled with accomplishments and setbacks which carve him into a successful personality. This
is where sports play an integral role in inculcating these diverse dimensions of joy, cheerfulness, realization
and experiences within a student. Sports not only act as a beacon of teamwork, but also bring with them tons
of experiences. At times, they spark a gleam of euphoria, and also make one aware of one's mistakes.
Sports are not only about the physical development, but also assist in the mental development of a child.
Therefore, it's unwaveringly essential to implant sports into a student's life.
As Open Minds Kankarbagh moves forth to organize the “Annual Sports Meet”, this event aims at weaving
a tapestry of experiences and learnings within a student.
From indoor to outdoor sports, we are ready to thrill every nerve of the participants as well spectators with
outstanding performances and amazing skills.
This November has been a witness to their rigorous practice in pursuit of the perfection they want to
assimilate into themselves. A few visuals…
