OPEN MINDS
February 2025
AARN
Dear Readers,
It's February, the beginning of the season of Spring when the entire earth
adorns herself with a variegated oral robe. Everything is lled with a rare
energy and there is a thrilling nip in the air. For those who love growth and
internal blooming, this season signies a new beginning and a awless
transformation. Leo Tolstoy, a great man and a legendary writer, says that
spring is the time of plans and projects.
Suzanne Collins writes about the quality of resilience Spring brings to our
life. She says, “What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow
that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no
matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again.”
Thus, let's permit this month to lubricate the cracks past months of struggle
and exhaustion has created in our minds. Let us reect on the distance we
have covered so far – whether in academics or in other elds. Let us
introspect if the path we have chosen is turning us into humans with a
humane touch. Will it allow our consciousness to be all inclusive? Will the
plights of our fellow citizens cause a surge of compassion in our hearts?
Things like inated ego, egotistical and self-centred attitudes are like weeds
which hardly allow the seeds of positivity, strength and humility to bloom
and ourish. Therefore, this is the time to wipe our conscience clean and be
ready to welcome the opportunities that lie ahead.
The biggest challenge glaring into our face is giving Grade 10 and 12
students the necessary encouragement so that they may ace the Board exams
with ying colours. We focused on those ones who needed some extra
support. Online classes in Science and Mathematics were organized in the
evenings involving the brightest faculties we have. The weak areas were
worked upon making the students feel more condent to face the tests in
right spirit. Walking this extra mile in supporting students left them
emotionally moved.
Maa Sharda Scholarship was another step taken to help the students assist in
their higher secondary endeavors. It underscores our willingness to propel
the genius in them to the greatest altitude possible. It shows the school
stands by them at every hour of need. Many of them showed interest in
continuing their journey in Grade 11 and 12 with us.
February also witnessed the commencement of the Annual Examinations
across grades with an aim to conclude them before Holi and save enough
time for correction and preparation of result.
Let us be thankful to Divine and all those involved in this yajna of pure work
and dedication to a sacred purpose. Wish you all a blissful Festival of
Colours ahead!
Warm regards,
A. Awasthi

Dear Reader,
The month of February was abuzz with
nervous energy of both the students and the
teachers amidst a urry of activities, like
examinations and tests - from the tests conducted in
junior grades to the jitteriness about the approaching
examinations of Grades 10 and 12, and many other things.
This season brings the aroma of freshness and creativity
and motivates us to live the life to the fullest with a
renewed zeal and vigour. The message of Spring is to
come close to nature – external and internal both as only
by harmonizing our insides and outsides that we enjoy life
to the utmost. Spring beckons a new beginning, keeping
all the past failures and frustrations aside and set out on
the path to our new dreams with a renewed vigour.
This edition of the newsletter will give you a glimpse into
the bustling and busy month of February at OMK.
Once again, we thank all the pens that contributed to the
making of this month's newsletter, expressing a heart-felt
gratefulness for your invaluable support.
Yours truly,
The Student Editorial Team

“The light of knowledge, the shine of intelligence, and the art of learning
provide a human with a beautiful ornament – one that never fades away,
something that never loses its value: the wisdom to illuminate this world,
and the caliber to conquer their dreams.
The resplendent festival of Saraswati Puja marks the arrival of spring,
bringing with it a wave of festive spirit and a plethora of exuberance.
Observed on the fifth day of the vibrant month of Magh – typically in
January or February, this festival is a rhapsody of devotion to Goddess
Saraswati.
This stimulating day is an occasion to adorn yourself in shades of yellow,
symbolizing the radiance of intellect.
Open Minds A Birla School Kankarbagh has successfully inculcated these
values into its students, shaping them into enlightened individuals who
carry the brilliance of knowledge and the grace of wisdom.
“Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.” Confucius

As the journey of our 12th graders came to an end the school bid them a warm farewell with a heart-touching
celebration filled with nostalgia, laughter, and best wishes along with a good-luck party for the passing out
Grade 10 students to wish them luck for their future. The farewell party was a perfect blend of emotions—tears
of parting and smiles of remembrance.
The event began with a grand welcome for the students who graced the stage with their presence, dressed
elegantly for the occasion. Juniors put together a delightful mix of performances, including soulful songs,
energetic dances, and heartfelt speeches that made the seniors feel truly special. The air was filled with
emotions as teachers shared words of wisdom, recounting cherished memories and imparting their blessings
for the journey ahead.
The highlight of the event was the puja held to seek blessings for the students' bright future. This was followed
by a feast where everyone enjoyed delicious food, strengthening bonds over shared laughter and memories. As
the day progressed, the dance floor came alive, with students grooving to their favourite songs, making the
farewell a perfect blend of tradition and celebration.
As the day ended, with wishes for success and bright futures, one thing remained clear—though they leave the
school, their memories will forever be a part of its legacy.

"As you graduate, remember: Your education is a dress rehearsal for a life that is yours to lead. Farewell, and lead it well."
"Saying goodbye to students like you is bittersweet – watching you go, but excited for the world you'll impact. Farewell, future leaders!"
"May your dreams be larger than mountains and your determination deeper than the oceans. Farewell, graduates!"
PTMs are special occasions as they not only cement the bonds
between the parents and teachers, but they also provide an
opportunity to build a partnership between them for the
wholesome grooming of the children. Their signicance further
increases manifold if it is for those students who are on the
threshold of facing their rst Board examinations. The anxious
faces of the parents and the reassuring ones of the teachers present
a beautiful contrast.
February has been a witness to such a PTM in OMK campus after
the Pre-board Examinations when the parents set their foot on the
campus in order to receive the admit card for their ward's exams
and get a peek into their performances in the recently concluded
Pre-board 2.
In many cases children also accompanied their parents. They cast
a look at the correction pattern, analysed their grey areas and
strategized further improvement. It was a solemn yet interesting
sight. Some images present here the glimpse of the same.

Assembl
y!
Every morning, it's the assemblies that set the tone for the day in school. With the sound of the bell, the assigned
grades run towards the assembly area – some with wings on their feet, while some dragging themselves on the
allocated space. Those with stage fright shrink, while those who love to present shine.
Thus assemblies have a lots of benets to offer. The exchange of knowledge between the mentors and the learners
is of stellar quality, at the same time they provide a stage where children can showcase their hidden talents in
performing arts. Conquering the stage fear is the biggest of gains a student should strive for.
At OMK, this month of February brought quite a few qualitative assemblies on interesting topics for the middle-
school. It was mesmerising to watch the little children shed all hesitation, walk up the podium and create a
fantastic show of their genius. A few glimpses…
“Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela
“It's easy to stand with the crowd, but it takes courage to stand alone.” – Mahatma Gandhi
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
“You don't stop playing because you grow old; you grow old because you stop playing!”
“The game is never more important than the people you play with.”
An Institution Par Excellence is one that stands with its students in their times of need. And it is not necessary
for the students to reveal their needs, rather it is the institution's to understand it even when unstated, to go to
them and become a pillar of support for them.
OMK has always stood by its children, whenever they looked up to it. This year again, walking its talks and
promises, Open Minds Kankarbagh presented a brilliant opportunity to support and strengthen its students
writing Grade 10 Board exams.
Based on the results of Pre-board II exams, the students who had scored 80 per cent or more, were offered a
wonderful opportunity if they chose to continue their higher secondary education with it.
At the time of Admit Card Distribution, they were handed over a cheque of
₹
51,000.00 as part of Maa Sharda
Scholarship. If the concerned students scored 90 percent or above in the Grade 11 annual exams, they would be
eligible to encash that cheque receiving the offered amount. If the student further scores 90 percent or above in
Grade 12 Board exams, they would be eligible for another cheque worth
₹
51,000/- which they would be able to
readily encash into their accounts.
It is a fantastic offer for those who need it or deserve it. Now the ball lies in the students' court to take this
challenge and perform superbly well to avail this opportunity.
“Education is an ornament in prosperity and a refuge in adversity.” — Aristotle
“The education of circumstances is superior to that of tuition.” — William Wordsworth
For a few years, the Indian Nation has been organizing a brilliant programme to rid its students of the fear
of exams. This outstanding idea was initiated by none other than the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri
Narendra Modi who picked students from across the nation on the basis of their participation in a survey
conducted by the government.
This programme is realized just before the Board exams for the classes 10 and 12 are set to commence. On
the basis of a simple yet efcient criteria, certain number of children representing all the corners of the
country are selected, and they participate in a face to face interaction with the Prime Minister.
In the mesmerizing conversation and queries that go on for a considerable period of time, the PM tries to
abolish the fear of exams from the children's minds. The ease and intricacy with which the PM interacts
with the children is amazing.
At, OMK, all the children across middle and senior grades assemble in the auditorium to watch this
programme on the screen. How effective this programme is can be speculated to see the children clapping
vigorously at certain queries from the participating children and the unique solutions provided by the
Prime Minister. Let's have a glance at some visuals collected…

PROJECT AND PORTFOLIO
Michelangelos at Our Own School
Michelangelos at Our Own School
As the Board Exams draw nearer, the students get busy preparing projects on
different topics from various subjects. Special papers are arranged, sketches are
drawn and the descriptions see a completely new and fancy writing styles.
Some of our students are up to neck to it. They give their best to their projects
and portfolios. If you look at their work, your jaw would drop in amazement. Whether it is in sciences, social
sciences, or languages, these art works mesmerize all.
Recently, while attending their projects, the teachers came across some outstanding presentations on paper.
Every page was nothing less than a work of intricate designing. Every letter told a story. We couldn't help
appreciate those works and thought of presenting their glimpse for all of you esteemed readers. Let us relish
the hard work and rened thinking they have invested into the task. Here are the images…

organized online classes in the
evening for Mathematics and
Sciences. The classes were conducted by expert faculties and the grey areas
of the students were diligently addressed. Using the online tools, the
teachers, not only showed them derivations and steps to solve the
problems, but provided them appropriate homework to familiarize them
with the problems. The emphasis was on teaching them how to go for the
right approach while taking on a mathematical sum.
The students experienced a great help through these online classes. A few

Final Term
Exam
Bye Bye, Exams!
As the month of February
slips in, the students as well
as the teachers get more
conscious. For the students,
it is the time to test what
they have gained throughout the year, and prove their
mettle at the touchstone of exams. And why not? The
entire year's preparation is to be tested.
But exams hone the skills of a person and make him or
her a pro into whatever they have learnt. After all, it is
re that turns iron into steel.
At OMK, this period signies a sacred festival to which every body - whether students or teachers - contribute to
the best of their ability. Every classroom becomes a witness to the students, in their solemn mood, bent on their
desks writing their papers, assisted by their mentors wherever necessary. It is pleasant to see these little minds
maturing into worthy and knowledgeable citizens of India through these exams. Let's have a look at these
visuals...
