Activities of the month
Dear Readers,
As July graces our school with its presence, the atmosphere becomes an orchestra of
vibrant academic pursuits. The monsoon rains descend like blessings from the heavens,
imbuing the earth with a sweet, rejuvenating fragrance after the relentless heat, offering
a serene balm to our spirits.
The opportunity of the PTM to engage with parents, discussing the intellectual and
emotional blossoming of our students, is truly cherished. Your approval, support, and
insightful advice propel us towards excellence, enabling us to contribute to society with
grace and distinction. We are heartened by the unwavering commitment of our
teachers, who, with meticulous care, shape the precious diamonds in our charge,
ensuring each student becomes a priceless jewel in the tapestry of life.
Amidst these enriching interactions, one moment stood out—a parent's request to
withdraw (after witnessing the signicant growth) their child from the extra classes
designed for Developing Learners. This gesture is a profound afrmation of our
teachers' dedication, as they extend their efforts beyond school hours, embodying our
belief that every child is innately capable of learning. It is our approaches and
methodologies that must evolve, guided by innovation and experimentation.
We nd ourselves in an era of profound transformation, as the waves of technology
wash over established values with a force both nourishing and erosive. Technology,
now a fundamental necessity akin to food, shelter, and clothing, has also encroached
upon the sanctity of childhood, offering unfettered access to uncensored content. In this
landscape, the role of parenting becomes ever more complex, demanding a delicate
balance between the necessary embrace of technology and the vigilance to protect our
children from its potential harms.
The seeds we planted during the Pre Mid Term have begun to sprout through classroom
activities and clubs. These tender saplings, nurtured with care, are blossoming into
creative expressions. One such initiative, OMK Connects, channels the boundless
energy of our students, irrigating their creativity. Under our Annual Theme—
Cultivating
Communicative Prociency —we are steadfast in our mission to cultivate
condent, articulate, and responsible citizens.
The year 2024 heralds a grand celebration of democracy, with over 60 nations, including
India, the USA, and the UK, participating in this festival. Our school, too, has partaken
in this celebration with fervor. Though our voter base may be small, the enthusiasm of
our voters and candidates rivals that of any national election. Employing technology for
transparent voting, we proudly announced the results in a live event, reecting our
commitment to fairness and integrity.
The newly elected school council for the session 2024-25 has taken their oath of ofce in
the presence of their proud parents. The radiant joy in their eyes and the pride in their
hearts are a testament to our shared journey and a source of profound satisfaction. The
new council, having just assumed their roles, is already at work planning a grand
Independence Day celebration. I eagerly anticipate sharing the fruits of their efforts in
our next communication.
Yours sincerely,

India being a democratic country, the
roots of democracy pervade every nook
and corner of its institutions. We believe
that every opinion counts and every unit
has a positive role to play in the system.
Therefore, Student Council Elections form
an essential part of the school here.
This year too, the process which started in
early July with the nomination of
candidates with group discussions
followed by campaigning, electronic
voting, culminated into result declaration
on 16 July and investiture ceremony
conducted on 27 July, 2024. The entire
process was seamlessly conducted, and
the digitalized voting system ensured it
remained free and fair.
The josh was really high as the nominees
enthusiastically campaigned in support of
their candidature. It was a good test of
t h e i r c o m m u n i c a t i v e a b i l i t y a n d
composure they required to maintain
while answering the students' questions.
The voting day turned into an elective
festival. Every class was eager to
contribute significantly with their votes,
and finally the results were out rewarding
the deserving candidates. Their proud
faces told all as in the Investiture
Ceremony, they beamed with joy and
confidence on being awarded the badges.

Assemblies are meeting times. They provide an unparalleled opportunity to the
students to practice public speaking skills, at the same time, they also make it
possible for them to interact with their seniors, their juniors and the mentors.
Thus assemblies prove to be a platform for the students to be informed of various
useful things, to perform on the stage, and to be appreciated as well. The whole
schedule of programs is so designed that it touches various aspects of the
students' personality, thus contributing to their all-round development.
This July remained a witness to several assemblies conducted on various themes
like – Faith and Hope, School Elections, Gratitude Is the Right Attitude, Empathy
and Kindness, Innovation and Creativity etc. Students from grades 3, 4, 5 and 12
took to the stage to showcase their presentational ability. Let's have a look…

Mass Media Presentations...
The mass media, in the world
today has come on our finger-tips.
We press a button, and there we
are interacting with a huge

different outlets. Therefore, to
acquire proficiency in how to use it
to our benefit is essential. Keeping

'The Dynamics of Coalition

The students were playing famous

Debate and Mass Media Presentations
“Freedom is hammered out on the anvil of discussion, dissent and debate.” – Hubert H. Humphrey
Let’s Debate…
It's our right to reason about things
before reaching at a particular
conclusion. Therefore, debating
comes naturally to man. It is the best
way to see things in totality and in
their true light, for, in a debate, we
don't only see the pros but also have
an eye on the cons. It, thus, becomes
less a contest and more an analysis.
So, there are two sides in a debate,
representing the opposites. And
their goals seem to be getting the
better of each other, however, in
reality, it is hardly so. They try,
rather, to reach the deepest level of
the truth where they can realize it in
the clear-most way.
To live by these principles, we, at
OMK, introduce debating at the
primary level itself. This midterm,
grades from five to eight challenged
each other's logic and tried to
convince the jury of their approach.
The topics were interesting as well
as entertaining, like 'Smartphones
are making us stupid', 'Reading
books is better than watching TV',
'Children getting better grades at
school will be more success in life'
etc. It was nice to see the students
p a r t i c i p a t i n g w i t h z e a l a n d
tenacity. A few glimpses of the
events…
“Deliberation and debate is the way you stir the soul of democracy.” – Jesse Jackson
Only academics makes Jack a dull boy, the classroom a
boring classroom. Therefore, to mix some fun and
excitement with learning, we, at Open Minds,
introduce interesting activities. They, generally range
from games and riddles to debates, speech contests and
quizzes. It provides the students with a chance to learn
as well as add different shades to their personalities.
They are introduced in primary classes as it's the time a
human kid learns the fastest and the most.
This July the primary section of the school saw a lot of engaging classroom activities
from debates to quizzes. Seeing the tender age of the learners, simple and logical
topics were thrown for debate, so that they can speak at some length. The quizzes
were also aimed at a particular level suitable to their age. It was a joy to see them
enthusiastically participating and performing. A few images reliving those
moments…

“In our class we don’t do easy. We make easy happen through hard work and learning.”
“The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you.”
“We may all be different sh, but at the school we swim together.”
July witnessed so many activities. The school opening after the Pre-Midterm
exams conducted before the vacations, it was time for the results to be declared.
And naturally, the PTM's followed. Saturdays turned into festive days as the
campus got abuzz with guardians and kids coming to discuss the academic as
well as overall development of the child.
It was a partnership in progress which had a wider purpose of preparing
healthy and knowledgeable citizens for India in the days to come. The bond it
created between the guardians and the mentors is essential to ensure a child
reaches his or her true potential.

“Trees are poems that the earth writes upon the sky." - Khalil Gibran
God couldn't be everywhere,
therefore, he made mothers.
There is no exaggeration to
what this quote conveys. The
entire creation is indebted to
the mothers, and especially to
the earth who is the mother to
all. What can be a better idea
than planting trees and
dedicating it to our mothers?
It will be a tremendous and
profound homage to both the
mothers - the human ones
and the earth - 'Our Dharti
Maata'. That's what we did by
giving this idea to our young
geniuses, and see the creative
outcome this idea yielded in
