AUGUST
Session : 2023-24
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Reader,
The year seems to be flying by and we are about to reach the Mid of the session with the
Mid
Term Examination scheduled this month. Despite the exams that commence in the
last week of the month,
students enthusiastically participated in a plethora of activities
that kept the students' attention observed for the whole month, and their shining faces
voiced a tale of creativity meeting opportunities. They learn a number of things books could
never have taught them.
This August too emerged a gleaming example of experiential learning for children of OMK
as they enjoyed a number of events from learning social skills to electing their
representatives in the student council, and from the plantation drive to celebrating the
76th
Independence Day. Various activities conducted by CBSE also kept them on toes.
But all these endeavours were highly useful as they taught them team spirit, cooperation,
leadership skills and challenged their thinking faculties to the utmost.
Assemblies, on a range of thought provoking topics compelled them to explore the inner
recesses of their minds and find the best from within. They also taught them how to
challenge the limitations environment around imposes on them.
Even the country achieved a big milestone in space technology when its lunar mission
Chandrayaan 3 became a roaring success. Every Indian heart swelled with pride and all
the kudos go to ISRO which has earned a profound respect for India's space programme in
the entire world. The scientists of Indian Space Research Organisation have inspired the
whole nation with this phenomenal achievement on a mere shoe-string budget. Our gems
in ISRO have realised 'where there is a will there is a way'.
Ultimately, it would be worthwhile to thank all the members of the OMK family for
performing all the required tasks with zeal and without complaining. I would like to wish
our students for the mid-term exams which are already in progress.
Wish you all a happy reading!
Yours truly,
Reshma Singh
SINGSONG
WORDS
Poetry is beauty in words. It
comes out of the heart and
overwhelms the mind with
sheer emotions it produces in
diction. It's like a brook flowing
down the mountains of life
chattering and babbling to itself
on every twist and turn it takes.
The students of Grade 2
acquainted the audience with
spontaneous overflow of such
joy through colourful recitation
of verses. A glimpse...

TREES
THE GIVERS OF LIFE!
Can we imagine life on this planet without trees?
They are the lungs of the earth. Apart from
providing us with life giving oxygen, they also add
to the aesthetics of the earth. Looking at them has
a calming effect on the nerves. In addition, they
control the heat, supply us with numerous things
like fruits, medicine and timber. They are home to
a number of animals, and sitting under their cool
shade is one of the most pleasant experiences in
summers.
Grade 3, enlarged on these benefits of trees in
their assemblies. Speeches, songs, role-plays and
several other features made the assemblies a
memorable experience.

THE LAWS OF MOTION
Science dazzles with its astonishing discovery
of facts and theories which govern the ways the
universe works. It helps us understand how
this creation fashions things out of nowhere
into a marvel. The students of Grade 9 this
week helped us understand how force and the
laws of motion apply in our everyday life.
Through their speeches and demonstrations,
they illustrated wonderfully, the nitty-gritty of
the practical aspects of science. A look at it
through visual memories...

"Science is organized knowledge. Wisdom is organized life."
It was an enchanting show of words and
action put up by the little kids of K2 Delta as
they threw light on the journey of summer
in India and its impact on the inhabitants of
this land. Theirs was a grand show of
words and actions.

Little kids love rain, for they know in the form of

paper-boats in pools made out of rain water.
During rains we also need to take a few
precautions to stay safe from diseases, insects etc.
The little geniuses of K2 Iota portrayed all this

RAIN, RAIN!
PLAY WITH ME!
Children love to play in the rain that is the poem of the earth. It cools down even
the most stressed minds, creates music while falling on shingles, rooftops, or
bare earth. It connects everyone to nature. Children consider it their natural
play-mate. Therefore, they love to bath and have fun in the rain. The K2 kids of
OMK on a particular day decided to get soaked in the rain. It was soothing to see
them embrace the tiny raindrops – the blessings from heaven. They played with
toys, balls, ran after one another and splashed water in the small pools created
around.
“I need the seasons to live to the rhythm of rain and sun.”
“After the storms come the rainbows of life.”
COMMEMORATING
INDEPENDENCE
It was a morning charged with pride, valour and
sense of freedom. The tricolour being unfurled,
Omkites decided to give the day a special touch
with their presentation on the same theme –
India's Independence. Patriotic speeches and
illustrations added several other hues to it. They
elaborated on all aspects of freedom and its
importance.
“Freedom is precious. Let's cherish and protect it.”
“A nation's culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people.”
“Freedom is the oxygen of the soul.”
INVESTITURE
CEREMONY
A few of the people may be born leaders, but these leadership skills can be cultivated through
worthy guidance and meticulous training. Student councils in schools are such institutions
where an ordinary child is carved into an able leader. Nominating themselves for elections,
convincing students to vote for them, contesting the elections, and if emerged victorious taking
care of the responsibilities coming their way turns them into confident, courageous, and
capable personalities.
The month of August witnessed the same process initiated and completed with elan in OMK.
The students participated in the democratic drive to elect their leaders who in a grand
ceremony were awarded badges, fresh identity cards indicating the posts they held and were
administered oath of office. The magnificent parade, the cultural programmes made the entire
show a memorable affair.
“True leaders are those who help others rise to new heights.”
“The investiture signifies the beginning of a new journey to turn obstacles into opportunities.”
“The investiture is a call to showcase the leadership skills.
GOOD TOUCH
BAD TOUCH
To protect children against the malicious intentions and evil
designs existing around, it is essential to make the kids aware of
the difference between good touch and bad touch. Keeping this
requirement in view, the school SENCO, Ms Shikha Asthana,
conducted an informal workshop for small children of OMK. The
little wonders were acquainted with the intentions with which
somebody might come in contact with them. They were also
trained on how to differentiate between a good and bad touch and
what measures they could take if touched with inappropriate
intention. Such programmes form a regular feature of OMK
sensitization programmes and go a long way ensuring child safety
in the society.
“A good Touch makes you feel safe and loved.”
GROW OH
TREE
,
AND TOUCH THE SKY!
Plantation drives have become a must with trees
being cut and forests being cleared around the
world. The government, certain agencies,
organisations and the concerned individuals are
on their toes creating awareness about the need
to plant as many trees as we can to protect the
planet from an uncalled for disaster.
With an intention to educate school students
about the importance of plantation and
preserving trees, Bank of Maharashtra, a
government of India undertaking, proposed to
conduct the drive in our school. Two officials of
the Bank of Maharashtra, Mr. Prakash Kumar
(Senior Manager) and Mr. Amarjeet Kumar
(Senior Manager) graced the campus with a few
saplings which they donated to school and got
them planted by the students. The Director, Mr.
Reinhold Michalak, School Manager, Ms. Neeta
Singh and Ms. Meera Singh were also present to
encourage the students for the drive on this
significant occasion.
“Trees are poems that the earth writes upon the sky.”
NEVER SAY
GOODBYE!
Good teachers are the most precious possessions of humanity,
for upon them depends the future of mankind. They are guiding
beacons to all would be citizens of a nation. Therefore, they
never retire, and once somebody becomes a teacher, always
remains a teacher. Still, there are stages everybody has to
undergo; roles and responsibilities do change, and therefore for
a teacher the workspace changes from an institution to the
family.
Respecting the same tradition, a worthy mentor to the school
children in Social Sciences, B K Mishra Sir, started a new
innings of his life completing the one here at school. A man of
letters and an embodiment of dignified calmness, he has stirred
hunger for knowledge in many here. In the presence of all the
dignitaries and the teaching fraternity of the school, he was
given a grand farewell in a specially organized function which
witnessed him being showered with gifts and honours. It was a
befitting farewell for a veteran teacher.
“Farewell! God knows when we shall meet again.”
From early morning when remnants of the night are still there in the sky
to the time each and every child is safely dropped at their home stoppage,
drivers play a crucial role in running the entire juggernaut called school.
Rain or shine, they attend to their duties without a single word of
complaint.
To pay homage to their great service, the school decided to celebrate the
drivers' day with fervour. The drivers assembled to cut the cake and were
appreciated by the management for contributing so significantly to
smooth functioning of the school.

RITING WITH A CAUSE
Central Board of Secondary Education recently organised a
writing contest for grades 3 to 12. It was named 'Expression
Series' for the academic session 2023-24. It had a grand theme
– 'G-20: India's Vision for a Harmonious World'. Various topics
related to the above mentioned theme were marked to invite
ideas in the form of write-ups.
For classes 3 to 5, the students had to write a paragraph, while
the ones from 6 to 12 sat down to compose an essay. Naturally
from junior to senior grades the length and the gravity of the
topics increased to challenge the students' creativity and the
ability to think on the spur of the moment.
A number of students participated in the contest with
enthusiasm giving the whole writing session a festival like
touch. Have a look at the images below to get a glimpse.
