From The Principal's Desk
Dear Parents
Greetings!
Peace education is an integral part of academic education. It builds
the foundation of an individual's character. A variety of learning
activities, classroom practices and communication inculcate the
culture of peace among students. The approach here, does not
intend to make another subject out of peace education; rather it
advocates integration of peace values.
Here, in OMK we induce the values of peace into the regular
curriculum of the school. We suggest ways of making every lesson a
peace and every teacher an apostle of peace. Inclusion of peace
values and activities make the subjects more meaningful and
interesting to learners in many ways. It increases the quality of
teaching as well as learning.
The approach attempts to create a connection between the
academic subjects and the need of the society, in the total school
curriculum. This unies the learning experiences in various subjects.
We
believe that children should not experience the curriculum as a
package of fragmented pieces of knowledge, with little or no relation
to each other.
Understanding growing need of peace and harmony, OMK
celebrated the 73rd Republic Day with an array of activities across
Grades K2 – 12. The students took pride in glorifying and celebrating
the spirit of unity and brotherhood. The gamut of celebration
activities held online consisted of, speech, presentation of unity,
culture and debates. The school echoed with patriotic fervour as the
children virtually drew scenes of Republic Day. Our students brought
the virtual stage alive with their passion and love for their
motherland. We witnessed the hard work and effort portrayed by our
students through a series of incidents in the history of India, the
freedom struggle, attainment of independence, and eventually the
formation of the Indian Constitution, making India a republic.
Our curriculum designers have incorporated clues and insights of
peace concepts, values, and approach into curriculum, through
varied activities. In them, teachers nd a legitimate foundation on
which they can build. We can state here, that much space is given in
our school syllabi to discuss most important matters related to the
humane development of children.
Happy reading!

Being
Socially
Responsible
Major newspaper headlines and sensational television coverage scream about drug abuse and
related crimes. The over exposure to the evils of the society and the lockdowns has created a
major impingement on the present generation. It is a pivotal of each individual towards the society
to keep it safe. In collaboration with The Narcotics Control Bureau, CBSE had organized E-
pledge 'Say No To Drugs!’ Understanding the utmost importance for us to give an overall
guidance to our students we associated with this and initiated the activity across Grades 8 -12.

The Vaccination
Drive
Covid may have posed a grave threat to humanity, but greater has been the resolve to neutralise this
menace by organizing vaccination drive. Having vaccinated majority of its adult population, India also
endeavoured to secure its children between 15 and 18. Vaccination campaigns were organised across the
schools in the country .On 11 January, 2022, Open Minds - A Birla School Kankarbagh chipped in to
contribute to this noble cause as the students of grades IX to XII were vaccinated at the school. The
enthusiastic participation of the students accompanied by their guardians caused a festive fervour in the
campus where the school staff worked shoulder to shoulder with the vaccination team to make the whole
event a huge success.

Republic Day :
Virtual Celebrations
Following the Covid norms, the school celebrated the Republic Day with highfalutin
showcase across all grades, K2-12. The preparations and planning for this had
started almost a week before. Each brought out the beauty of our country that is
coloured with different languages and festivals, brandishing that we all stand as a
united force. It made us enthralled and excited to see the presentations put up by
each grade.
