Our commitment and promise at Open Minds -A Birla School, Kankarbagh is to gear up  the children
to  face  all  challenges  in  mul spectral  growth.  OMK  aims  to  furnish  a  safe  and  intellectually
challenging  environment  that  will  empower  students  to  become  innova ve  thinkers,  crea ve
problem solvers, inspired learners prepared to thrive in 21st century.
As the students are preparing to appear for the Mid Term Exams, the next few days are going to be
crucial for them. Every achievement is deep rooted in hard work determina on and dedica on so,
we inspire and mo vate students to learn to best of their innate capabili es. At this point of  me, I
would  like  to  quote  Swami  Vivekananda's  line  "Arise,awake  and  do  not  stop  un l  the  goal  is
reached."

Apart  from  this,  high  standards  and  expecta ons  for  each  student  in  regard  to  academic
performance,  co-curricular  par cipa on,  and  responsible  ci zenship  are  the  founda on  of  our
school. It is with pride that we hold these high standards and ask each of our students to commit to
maintaining the extraordinary record of achievement and contribu on that has been the USP of
OMK.  Full  par cipa on  in  academic  and  co-curricular  programs  and  the  willingness  to  act
responsibly as an individual within our educa onal environment are the factors that enable all to

MERRY READING!

Awareness is the door to security. It is the key ingredient in sculp ng future plans. The major
problems arise because there is sheer lack of awareness. If brought into no ce the probable
fallouts, the chances of hurdles and obstacles that are obvious, can be easily overidden.
Therefore, 'STAY AWARE AND KEEP SPREADING AWARENESS!'.

In today's world, one of the iden

es that is feared a lot is that of snakes. For many individuals, just the

u erance of the word 'snake' may be potent enough to give goose bumps for a second or two. But, to
be very honest, the scenario is not so dras c as it is presented. Snakes are one of the major
components of the environment and are equally important as the other organisms. Due to lack of
informa on in regard to snakes and a few illogical thoughts which people have, snakes have found a
residence in hearts of many and are a cause of fright.

Therefore, in order to create awareness about snakes, a renowned organisa on TRY, conducted an
awareness workshop in context to snakes on August 17,2019 for the students of Grades 6 to 8, in the
school premises. A lot of informa on regarding snakes, their handling, and an -venoms was rendered
to the students. It was really an enlightening session.

When India speaks about freedom, what comes in mind is the midnight of August 15,
1947  when  the  oﬃcial  announcement  of  Indian  independence  was  made.  It  was  a
moment of libera on when the chained Indians unchained themselves from the brutal
shackles of the Bri sh.
To  commemorate  that  auspicious  day,  the  Independence  Day  was  celebrated  in  the
premises of Open Minds, Kankarbagh on August 15, 2019. The func on ini ated with the
most  pious  and  tradi onal  'Flag  Hois ng  Ceremony'  by  our  Honourable  Principal,  Mr.
Madhukar Jha. The en re campus echoed with patrio c hymns and songs. The day was
embarked with great joy and happiness.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS

United We Are!

Science is an art. It is not only about facts but also about new ideas and newer
imagina ons. It allows transforming one's thoughts into reality. It helps in be er
understanding of the physicality of life and its happenings.

Delhi Public School, Patna in associa on Takshila organised a Science Carnival on
August 16, 2019. OMKites across Grades 8 to 11 par cipated in the carnival. A project
on Aquaponics and produc on of calcium from egg shells were exhibited at the event
from OMK. A number of reputed schools of the town par cipated in the carnival. OMK
bagged the second prize in the event. It was a moment of pure joviality and pride.

TAKSHILA SCIENCE CARNIVAL

The above stated shloka from ' The Bhagvada Gita' is one of the most o en quoted shlokas of Lord
Krishna. Lord Krishna taught humanity to follow such life pa erns that do not have the build of
dishonesty and corrup on. The birth of Lord Krishna was said to be the steering force that would
end the ills of Dwaparyuga.

JANMASHTAMI CELEBRATIONS

Grade  K2  celebrated  Janmashtami  on
August 23, 2019 in the premises. The  ny
toddlers  were  dressed  up  as  Krishna
carrying a 'bansuri' and Radha carrying a
'matka'. The sight of theirs le  everyone
spell bound. The celebra on turned out to
be  a  memorable  one.  The  children
enjoyed to the depth.

The Inves ture ceremony marks the assurance and conﬁdence that the school entrusts on the
newly invested oﬃce bearers. Donning the mantle of accountability, they also pledge to bestow
their du es to the best of their abili es.

The Inves ture Ceremony for the session 2019-20 was held on August 24,2019 in the Sharda
Auditorium, School Campus. The ceremony was held with lots of zeal and zest. It commenced with
the tradi onal Lamp Ligh ng ceremony followed by Vedic Padya Patha. A welcome dance was also
showcased on the pres gious occasion. Following the welcome dance, the newly elected oﬃce
bearers announced their arrival into the auditorium, marching with their head held high. They were
conferred with badges and sashes by our Honourable Directors, Principal and School Manager. Our
Principal, Mr. Madhukar Jha, administered the oath for the students' council members. They took the
pledge to hold the school mo o of Loyalty, Truth and Honour in high esteem.

School communi es need to go beyond limita ons, make the next step and start to really
cul vate and encourage skills for the next century. Our teachers and our students need to
belong into a learning community, sharing ideas, moving forward, being empowered.

With the above highlighted perspec ve in mind, Open Minds- A Birla School, Kankarbagh
hosted the INTER SCHOOL DEBATE COMPETITION under the guidance of Patliputra Sahodaya
Complex, Patna on August 31,2019 on the occasion of Gandhi Sesquicentennial Celebra on.
Thirteen reputed and renowned schools made their par cipa on on the dais. The mo on of
the topic was “Is Gandhi Relevant at present me?”. Two speakers, one speaking for the
mo on and the other speaking against the mo on, gave their presenta on. An excep onally
high order oratory skill was noted in all the par cipants. The Rebu al Session was the most
enjoyable sec on. The judges of the event were Dr. Saloni Kumar and Dr. B.D. Sarkar, two
eminent literary ﬁgures of Patna. The event was a grand success and everyone was thrilled at
the splendid presenta ons of the children.

To foster round the corner development of children, ac vi es and academics must run hand in
hand. Sports ac vi es nurture the children's spirit of working together as a team with the feeling of
unity and companionship.

Believing  as  the  same  above,  Bihar  Government  organised  a  State  Level  TAEKWONDO  AND
BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT on August 19, 2019 at Patliputra Sports Complex, Patna. Best teams
across  the  state  signed  their  par cipa on.  Our  girls  and  boys  team  represented  OMK  on  such  a
pres gious pla orm. The boys team secured the runner-up posi on whereas the girls troop ﬁnished
oﬀ securing the fourth place. Splendorous performance was noted in Taekwondo also. Shelly Bagga
and  Aditya  Rajvardhan  secured  the  ﬁrst  posi on  respec vely  and  were  awarded  gold  medals
respec vely. They also qualiﬁed for State Level Championships. It was really a ma er of pride for all
OMKites to have experienced such a marvellous achievement.
